Adult Education Budget

AEB is a major fund for adult learners aimed at delivering skills provision for eligible adults aged 19 and over. It also provides funding to help learners overcome the barriers which prevent them from taking part in adult education.

Eyad Hanash, Head of Contracts stated “It makes me immensely proud that Embark Learning joins a list of only 88 providers selected by the ESFA to be awarded a contract.

This is an endorsement of our highly successful SWAP programmes that have been developed working closely with employers and so effective at getting people into work in Health & Social Care. Over 70% of SWAP graduates find employment – testament to the passion and commitment of our employability team.

The contract award will allow us to offer our SWAPs to residents and our employers in non-devolved areas such as Staffordshire, Telford, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.”

AEB provision aims to engage adults in learning which provides the skills and learning they need for work, progression in work, an Apprenticeship or further learning. This can include:

1. English and Maths, up to and including Level 2
2. First full qualification at Level 2 for individuals aged 19 to 23, and/or
3. First full qualification at Level 3 for individuals aged 19 to 23
4. Information Technology (‘digital’) skills, up to and including Level 1, for individuals aged 19+, who have digital skills assessed at below Level 1
5. SWAPs (Sector Based Work Academy Programmes)

Alex O’Neill, Operations Director at Fairway Homecare, who work in partnership with The Embark Learning Care Academy commented “Fairway are delighted to work so closely with the Embark Learning Care Academy, they are crucial to our growth and development plans and the My Care Portfolio programme has made an enormous difference in terms of the quality and depth of our workforce.

We are lucky in the current climate to have a regular, steady supply of quality care professionals being developed for us and it means we can plot and plan our growth strategy with confidence. All of the learners that evolve in to healthcare professionals come with a fresh attitude, best practice, good habits and a hunger to learn and provide high levels of care and empathy. The award of the contract is of no surprise to me as they are a quality training provider, delivering exactly what they promise to. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
